Fees

Procedure Centre Fees

At Melbourne IVF's Procedure Centre, patients can undergo procedures in one day without having to spend a night in hospital. This enables us to offer highly competitive day procedure rates compared to large hospitals for patients with no health cover or those undergoing non-claimable procedures.

We have contracts in place with all leading private health funds, offering patients the convenience of lodging claims on their behalf with little or no upfront costs.

Theatre and Accommodation Fees

Hospital costs

The hospital fee for your procedure covers the use of the operating theatre, day-stay accommodation and commonly used medications and dressings. For some procedures, there will also be a charge for prostheses or disposables.

If you have private health insurance, we will claim directly from your health fund.

If you have an excess or gap with your cover, you will need to pay this on admission.

Your health fund will have advised us directly of the cover they will pay. If you do not have private health insurance, you will need pay the full account on admission.

One or two days prior to admission a team member from Melbourne IVF's Procedure Centre will contact you to confirm any hospital costs for your procedure that need to be paid on admission.

The fee for your surgery cannot be claimed through Medicare.

Payment types

Payments made by Visa or Mastercard via the Westpac online payment portal or at our procedure centre will incur an additional surcharge on top of the admission cost. You will continue to have the option to pay via Electronic Funds Transfer. This payment option does not incur a surcharge.

Specialist, Anaesthetist and Pathology costs

In addition to the procedure centre fee, please be aware that your Specialist, Anaesthetist and Pathologist will send their accounts for their services separately and directly to you. Melbourne IVF does not handle these accounts, and you will need to pay them directly.

Please note that when you receive accounts from these doctors, they will list the same item numbers as on your Hospital account, but they are for your Doctor’s services not the procedure centre's costs.

Health insurance

Prior to admission be sure to confirm your level of cover for hospital admission with your health insurance provider.

If you have any questions about the costs associated with your procedure, please contact our friendly team who will be more than happy to assist you.

Health Fund Cover

Patients with private insurance

Melbourne IVF has contracts in place with all the leading private health funds, offering you the convenience of lodging claims on your behalf with little or no upfront costs.

Please provide the correct health fund details in your pre-admission forms. In the days leading up to your admission, we will contact your health fund to establish your level of hospital cover, if the waiting periods have been served, and if there are any out-of-pocket payments (excess or co-payment).

Some procedures may be restricted or excluded from some levels of hospital cover, such as obesity, and IVF related procedures. After seeing your specialist, please contact your health fund if you are unsure what you are covered for.

You will need to know the item number corresponding to your proposed procedure(s), if you do not know this, please contact our team.

Here are some questions to ask when you contact your health insurance provider:

  • Am I fully covered for an admission to a private hospital?
  • Have I served all current waiting periods?
  • Are all my premium payments up to date?
  • Does my policy have any restrictions, limitations or minimum benefits that may apply?
  • Do I have an excess or any co-payments associated with my policy?

Patients with no private insurance

If you don’t have private health insurance, we’ll provide a written quote of all hospital costs. You’ll need to pay all fees on admission.

WorkCover or a Third-Party Claim

If your procedure is subject to WorkCover or a Third-Party Claim, please forward full details of the claim to the Melbourne IVF Procedure Centre, including a letter from your insurance company accepting liability for the admission.
