The Melbourne IVF Procedure Centre is a purpose-built procedure facility conveniently located for both specialists and patients in Collingwood.

Formerly known as the East Melbourne Specialist Day Hospital, we have been providing specialist day surgical care to the Melbourne community since 2011. 

The Melbourne IVF Procedure Centre is designed to deliver exceptional care for patients undergoing gynaecology, fertility and IVF procedures.

Part of the Virtus Specialist Day Hospital network, our procedure centre is designed to be more patient-friendly than a typical hospital environment and maximise efficiency for medical teams. All doctors have a dedicated team of experienced nurses for support. 

With fewer surgeries being performed each day compared to large hospitals, patients enjoy the benefit of more intimate care and highly competitive procedure rates.

Our experienced theatre team is focused on your specialty to ensure the facilities meet your expectations and your patients receive the best possible care.

The Melbourne IVF Procedure Centre is a Department of Health licensed facility, has ISO 9001 accreditation and is accredited to the National Safety and Quality Heath Service Standards.

Admission criteria

The Melbourne IVF Procedure Centre has strict admission criteria for patients to ensure their safety and optimal patient care.

This includes:

  • Not permitting children under two years of age
  • Not permitting patients weighing above 150kg
  • Not permitting patients who are unconscious, unable to consent, or refusing treatment

Equipment

Our two spacious operating theatres are well-equipped with the latest technology, including:

  • Laparoscopic camera equipment
  • Anaesthetic machine
  • Versatile operating tables (which accommodate weights up to 150kgs)
  • Electrosurgical units
  • Ultrasound machines
  • Ceiling mounted monitors
  • Xenon operating light system

Credentialing process

If you are a Specialist and would like to apply for accreditation at the Melbourne IVF Procedure Centre, we will require all the nominated documentation as per the credentialing application form here.

Application Review Process

  • Upon receipt of your completed application and support documentation, a review will be undertaken by the Managing Director and Medical Director.
  • At this point, a temporary appointment may be granted for a short period of time.
  • Supported applications are then forwarded to the Medical Advisory Committee meeting for consideration.
  • Applicants are notified in writing whether their appointment has been ratified by the Board or declined, once the review has been fully processed.
