Melbourne IVF is now claiming in-patient procedures directly with all major health fund providers helping you further reduce your out of pocket costs.
If you have private health insurance, this can help further reduce the costs associated with IVF treatment by covering day hospital expenses and some medications, that are not covered by Medicare. We strongly advise you to contact your own health fund for advice about rebates, waiting periods and your eligibility for fertility treatment.
When you have IVF treatment at our East Melbourne clinic, you are admitted to East Melbourne Specialist Day Hospital (EMSDH) for day surgery procedures, such as egg collection and embryo transfer. Some patients may be admitted to the Women’s Hospital for their IVF treatment procedures. Medicare does cover the treatment cost component of these procedures, however it does not cover the bed fees associated with being an inpatient for these procedures. If you would like more information regarding private health insurance rebates for these procedures please contact your private health fund and quote item numbers 13212 and 13215 – these apply to both day hospital locations.
Please note that any excess or co-payment associated with your private health fund policy will need to be paid to the hospital on the day of your day surgery admission. You also need to know that some funds will treat infertility as a pre-existing condition, which means a waiting period will apply before you are eligible for claiming benefits.
Please keep us informed of your private health insurance hospital cover details. We will need your private health insurance company name, membership number and whether you are covered for IVF treatment under your hospital cover.
