COVID-19 UPDATE: Restrictions on elective surgery
With the State Government announcing a snap five day, level four lockdown, we understand you may have some questions about your treatment at Melbourne IVF.
Patients currently undergoing IVF can continue their treatment. The DHHS has confirmed some restrictions on elective surgery will be in place until 11.59pm Wednesday, 17 February 2021. During this time, procedures that can be performed are urgent cases only, category 1 and category 2a. Your medical team will contact you if you have an elective surgical procedure booked that needs to be rescheduled.
We are still able to deliver many of our services via virtual consultation and telehealth appointments. When patients are required to come into our facilities for scans, blood tests or a procedure, some strict safety measures are in place, including:
- Mandatory wearing of face masks of all staff, doctors and patients
- Social distancing at all times
- Increased cleaning and sanitising of our facilities throughout the day
- Hand sanitiser stations at all locations
- Temperature checks of all staff, doctors and patients upon entry to our clinics
If you need a travel letter for your treatment please follow up with our nursing team. Please note, any SMS, email or letter relating to your treatment schedule is acceptable evidence of the need for travel during the lockdown period.
We’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for your resilience and strength over the course of this ongoing pandemic – we know it’s been tough for everyone. Our fertility specialists, nursing and admin teams, scientists and counsellors are all working hard to make sure our clinics are safe and that our patients are fully supported.
We hope you are looking after yourself. If you feel you need extra support, you have access to our counselling team and our patient forum on Facebook, which is a community of people who are on a similar journey to you. If have any questions please call us on 1800 111 483.
