COVID-19 Latest Update

Following the Victorian Government's announcement of stage 4 lock down Monday 3rd August, there are no changes to the existing restrictions already in place for IVF and elective surgeries.

Melbourne IVF continues to operate strict safety measures within all facilities and are utilising virtual consultations wherever possible.

A huge thank you to our staff, doctors and patients for showing such resilience and strength throughout this time.

Patient Procedure Update

The COVID situation in Victoria is changing daily and we continue to introduce new safety measures to ensure you, our valued patients, are protected.

As advised by the DHHS, COVID testing is recommended prior to all elective surgeries and that includes some IVF procedures.  We have partnered with Dorevitch Pathology to set up an onsite COVID testing at our East Melbourne clinic for all patients who are scheduled for an egg retrieval.

Starting Monday, 27 July, onsite testing will be open Monday-Friday, 8am-11am and results will be provided within 48 hours.  The onsite testing is by appointment only so that we can carefully manage numbers and ensure the fastest turnaround time possible.

Your nursing team will contact you directly and coordinate a COVID test approximately three days before your scheduled procedure.  You will receive an information pack which includes a referral form for the COVID test.

The COVID-19 testing is not required for embryo transfer or IUI procedures, unless the procedure is performed under general anaesthetic.

Our onsite COVID testing is here to provide a convenient and safe service for you. Our appointment-only approach will help ensure you aren’t queueing for your test and our partnership with Dorevitch means you will receive results within two days, giving you peace of mind that it’s safe to go ahead with your procedure.

We once again thank you for your understanding.  We know it’s an added stress to an already emotional time and we’re working hard to navigate this unpredictable and ever-changing environment.

Our counselling team is here if you would like to talk to someone.  Please reach out to us on 1800 111 483 if you’d like to book an appointment or have any questions.
