A/Prof Alex Polyakov

After graduating from the University of Adelaide in 2000, Alex completed his internship at the Royal Adelaide Hospital before moving to Melbourne to start his specialist training in obstetrics and gynaecology. He trained at various hospitals, including Monash Medical Centre, Dandenong Hospital and Box Hill Hospital, and completed formal fellowship training in reproductive endocrinology and infertility at the Reproductive Biology Unit of the Royal Women’s Hospital, Melbourne IVF and Monash IVF.

Alex also holds a Graduate Certificate in Evidence-based Medicine from Monash University, Masters of Clinical Epidemiology/Biostatistics from the University of Newcastle, and Masters of Reproductive Medicine from the University of NSW.

An expert in all aspects of male and female infertility evaluation and treatment, Alex has special interest in areas including anovulatory disorders such as polycystic ovarian syndrome, age-related infertility, endometriosis, tubal infertility, and male causes of infertility such as abnormal sperm count. He is also skilled in a range of general gynaecological and fertility-related surgical procedures, including advanced laparoscopic procedures and microsurgery for tubal ligation and vasectomy reversal. In addition, he provides a private obstetric service to maintain continuity of care during pregnancy.

Alex understands the urgent needs of anyone consulting an obstetrics, gynaecology and infertility specialist – so his patients find him very flexible, committed to see all new cases within one week of referral. He also offers after-hours consulting.

Dr Polyakov is also able to consult with his patients in Russian if preferred.
