Mt Waverley Fertility Clinic

Melbourne IVF Mt Waverley is a fertility clinic providing full-time fertility nursing services and the opportunity for patients to undertake the majority of their treatment locally.  Currently, patients can access all of their nursing and counselling appointments at Mt Waverley, as well as Fertility Specialist consultations at the doctors' private rooms located a short distance from the clinic.

Melbourne IVF is excited to announce that on the premises we are establishing a purpose-built clinic, day surgery and laboratory providing the full spectrum of treatment and care for patients wishing to access Assisted Reproductive Technology locally.  It is anticipated the facility will be fully operational in 2010.

Patients living in the area will benefit from the provision of all their treatment under the one roof, and from the superior expertise and care from Melbourne IVF’s specialist team.

Getting there:

Melbourne IVF Mt Waverley is located at 3 Meadow Crescent, Mt Waverley and backs onto the Mt Waverley Private Hospital premises.  Dr Jim Tslatas and Dr Scott Pearce currently consult from 81 Blackburn Road, Mt Waverley (approximately 5 mins drive) and Dr Haider Najjar currently consults from rooms in Clayton (approximately 8-10 mins drive). 

By Car:
Entry to Meadow Crescent is via Mt Waverley Road or Blackburn Road and is approximately 100 metres from the corner of Mt Waverley Road and Blackburn Road.  Car parking is available on Meadow Crescent.

By Bus:

Dr Jim Tsaltas

Dr Jim Tsaltas is a specialist with Melbourne IVF.  He is Head of the Gynaecological Endoscopy Unit at Monash Medical Centre and Southern Health.  He is currently Vice-President of the Australian Gynaecological Endoscopy and Surgery Society (AGES).  He is also on the board of the International Society of Gynaecological Endoscopy (ISGE).  Jim is actively involved in teaching Australian and Overseas Surgeons advanced laparoscopic surgery. 

Dr Tsaltas' private IVF practice is at Melbourne IVF in East Melbourne and Waverley Private.  His surgical expertise is in advanced endometriosis surgery and advanced laparoscopic surgery.  He is a founding member of the Endometriosis Care Centre of Australia.  His main research interests are the impact of severe endometriosis on IVF outcomes, surgical techniques to manage endometriosis and teaching advanced laparoscopic surgery.

Dr Scott Pearce

Dr Scott Pearce completed Obstetrics and Gynaecology training at Monash Medical Centre, obtaining The Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in 2002. Dr Pearce then completed a two-year fellowship in Advanced Laparoscopic and Pelvic Reconstructive Surgery at Monash Medical Centre.

Dr Pearce trained in IVF at The Women’s Hospital, Melbourne. He is a consultant with Melbourne IVF and is the consulting specialist at Melbourne IVF Mt Waverley clinic.

Dr Pearce has a public hospital appointment in gynaecology at Monash Medical Centre performing Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery. He is involved in teaching gynaecology trainees, and Australian and overseas surgeons, the techniques of Laparoscopic Surgery.

Dr Pearce has presented papers at numerous conferences and won the AGES Travelling Fellowship award in 2003.  He has been on the organising committee of medical conferences and has published medical research.

Dr Haider Najjar

Dr Haider Najjar came to Australia in 1998 and completed training in Obstetrics & Gynaecology at Monash Medical Centre and gained the Fellowship of the Royal Australian & New Zealand College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists. During his training he was awarded the Young Scientists award by the International Menopause Society in Berlin Germany for his research in Premature Menopause.

Dr Najjar completed a formal Fellowship in Gynaecology Minimally Invasive Surgery. During this training, he was a key member responsible in organising and teaching at multiple workshops for registrar training in Laparoscopic surgery. For his participation and contribution in these workshops, he was awarded the Travelling Fellowship award by the Australian Gynaecology Endoscopic Society, which further allowed him to train in Laparoscopic and Robotic surgery in America.


Dr Najjar is also an active member of the Australian Gynaecology Endoscopic Society and participated in multiple conferences, workshops and activities both in Australia and internationally abroad.

Prior to his work within Australia, Dr Najjar gained surgical experience working in the Middle-East and Europe.
